Arson suspected Chernobyl
Mr Avakov said authorities suspected the fire was started deliberately and had tightened security around the exclusion zone.
A state nuclear inspection official told AFP that the level of background radiation around the plant had not changed after the fire broke out.
A fire raged at the plant for 10 days after the reactor meltdown 1986, sending huge amounts of radioactive material into the surrounding environment and over large parts of Europe, particularly Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
The area around the plant was evacuated and a 30km (19 mile) exclusion zone remains in place to this day. Work on laying a new seal over the damaged reactor began in 2007 and is due to be completed this year.

Belarus expects European Union to lift sanctions for good.
Belarus expects that the European Union will lift all the sanctions and will never return to this form of relations. The statement was made by Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Mikhnevich in an interview with the Lithuanian newspaper Lietuvos Zinios lžinios.lt.
Alexander Mikhnevich said: "We have repeatedly stressed that we are against such sanctions. Sanctions will never produce the desired results."
"We hope that the European Union will see that sanctions produce poor results and are unnecessary. We hope that they will be fully lifted and we will never return to this form of relations," stressed the official.
Speaking about Belarusian-Lithuanian relations, Alexander Mikhnevich said that the countries should pay attention to each other and get maximum benefits from the fact that they are neighbors.
"It seems to me that all the components of our cooperation develop in a positive manner," said Alexander Mikhnevich.
"There are no new problems, no new barriers or restrictions have been enforced in mutual trade. We should just talk to each other and hear each other as often as possible.
