The sanctions placed on Russia by Obama, because of Putin's invasion and terrorizing of the good Ukrainian people, are long term sanctions, meant to do the most economic damage over the long term, years, and the USA is not removing any sanctions against Russia until Putin gets the Russian Army out of Ukraine, all of Ukraine, including Crimea Ukraine. These are small but powerful sanctions. Congress wanted to do much more: much heavier sanctions, provide defensive weapons, and peace keeping troops, but Obama said no just yet. But if Putin continues to invade and terrorize Ukraine, Obama will add more sanctions against Russia. And when Obama leaves, the next president, will side with congress and the Putin and Russia in big trouble because they will most likely agree with congress and there will be much heavier sanctions applied against Putin and Russia as well as defensive weapons provided to Ukraine to defend itself - AS AGREED IN THE Budapest MEMORANDUM.
