If Republican Chairman of the Oversight Committee James R. Comer thinks hauling Bill and Hillary Clinton in front of cameras is a political win, he's playing with a loaded rake.
First, sworn testimony kills insinuation. Bill Clinton under oath is careful, narrow, and lawyered. If Comer can't back claims with documents, he's left with vapor — and congressional hearings don't survive well on vibes alone.
Second, Hillary Clinton is a disaster for anyone trying to stage a gotcha. She doesn't ramble, she doesn't panic, and she will calmly expose a partisan fishing expedition for what it is. That's not great optics for a party pretending this is "serious oversight."
But here's where it really backfires: once you legitimize Epstein as a subject of congressional testimony, comparisons become unavoidable. Bill Clinton's Epstein ties have been public for years. Trump's have never been examined under oath in Congress — despite the photos, the praise, the parties, the records. That asymmetry collapses the minute Comer opens the door.
