Wat ik zie is een partij die steeds minder ruimte laat voor nuance, voor debat, en voor leden die zich niet volledig scharen achter een steeds radicaler geluid.

Mijn achtergrond is zionistisch. Dat maakt deze ontwikkeling niet alleen politiek, maar ook persoonlijk. De manier waarop binnen GroenLinks-PvdA over Israël wordt gesproken, raakt aan mijn bestaansrecht, mijn identiteit. Kritiek op het beleid van de Israëlische regering is legitiem en noodzakelijk, maar wat ik zie is geen kritiek meer, het is een houding die grenst aan afwijzing van het zionisme als geheel. En daarmee van mensen zoals ik.

Sinds de periode dat Maarten van Traa Buitenlandsecretaris is geweest van de PvdA is de antizionistische stem binnen de PvdA luider geworden. Met het samengaan met GroenLinks heeft die antizionistische stem elke discussie over het bestaan van Israël en het recht van Israël op zelfverdediging overschreeuwd.

Ik ben lid geworden van de PvdA vanwege haar inzet voor solidariteit, rechtvaardigheid en menselijke waardigheid. Maar als die waarden niet meer gelden voor iedereen – ook voor wie een andere achtergrond of overtuiging heeft – dan verliezen we iets fundamenteels.
