The only ones naive were the Ukrainians believing the Budapest memorandum and the USA.

The only reasonably thing to do was to destroy them instead of giving them to russia, but USA defenceindustry needed a future Cold War candidate, and Ukraine never could be..first article I found when war/invasion started in Ukraine in february 2014 with green men (usa only year after dare to call it invasion) was article that usa army should be resized to size before 1942, like before 9/11 I found also a resize plan. I never believe in luck, only in planning, and yes with over 900 bases in 153 countries I see USA as biggest occupier and agressor. Up till 1942 USA did business with German nazis...

UNSC never should have given russia seat as successor of sovietunion cause while that may have been a superpower, "russia" isn't without ex-sovietstates.
